The dangers of Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, and AI

We’ve already done a couple of episodes about the dangers of traveling to Mexico. But … the violence around the apprehension and killing by the Mexican government of cartel leader “El Mencho” in February 2026 led to a more heated public conversation on the issue. So, here’s a third episode. Spoiler alert: I think AI is a far greater danger than is traveling to Mexico.

Agave Road Trip is a critically acclaimed, award-winning podcast that helps gringx bartenders better understand agave, agave spirits, and rural Mexico. This episode is hosted by Lou Bank with special guest Linda Sullivan of seynasecreto.

To read all of Clayton J Szczech’s post … well, apparently, you’d have to be friends with him. So go make friends with him. And follow and use his tour company, Experience Agave. And read his book, A Field Guide to Tequila: What It Is, Where It’s From, and How to Taste It.

Shout outs this episode to Tequila Wars author Ted Genoways (whose “Immigrants on the Line” episode of “Reveal” is fantastic), is/was Brewing, the children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, the Tehuamixtle Oyster Festival, and Jon Darby from Sin Gusano!
